How Households Affect your Subscription
Your plan determines whether you're billed per taxpayer identification number (TIN) or per household.
Your plan determines whether you're billed per taxpayer or per household. The definitions of "taxpayer" and "household" align with IRS filings.
How Each Plan Is Billed
How you're billed depends on your plan. None of our plans places limits on your usage. Most plans include a number of taxpayers or households that come with your base payment.
-
Individual Plans count each taxpayer identification number (SSN/EIN). Only taxpayers who have given consent count towards your usage in a given contract term.
-
A married couple counts as two taxpayers, regardless of how they file - they each have a unique social security number (SSN).
-
Each business, trust, and estate counts as a unique taxpayer because it has its own employer identification number (EIN).
-
- Firm Plans count each household used. Only households with at least one taxpayer who has given consent count towards your usage in a given contract term.
- A household includes up to two people who are married and file jointly, plus the dependents they claim and any businesses, trusts, and estates for which they have signing authority.
- Married couples who file separately count as separate households.
- TaxStatus groups clients into households automatically based on how they file with the IRS.
